Nothin' but stumps left

Â
The year was 1977. The tree lined streets became bare. Dutch Elm disease came and went and left nothin’ but stumps.
This wouldn’t happen again, the experts said. The elm would be replaced with a more hardy ash tree.Â

Oops. Here we go again …
Now the question is should healthy trees come down or do we wait until they die?
Put me in the bring them down now crowd.
I’m not a big believer in miracles. Real miracles. The kind of miracle that it would take to stop the Emerald Ash Borer in its tracks. Barak isn’t even working on it as far as I know… Â so it’s coming. We might as well prepare for it.
If we know the trees are going to die … if we know the dead branches will become hazardous … if we know the financial costs will be much higher than we care to pay but we must … we might as well get a head start on it.
Let’s start bringing them down.

Al Arnold Says:

I do not believe that comparing the life of a tree and a human life are even apples and oranges. There is no comparison. I also believe a human life is more valuable than a chicken or pig or whatever I want to eat tonight.
As for hospitals … don’t get me started.

With all due respected. With that convoluted thought process, whats the use of having hospitals? We are all going to die anyway so why try to keep anyone alive using the miracle of modern medicine? Its going to cost alot of money and I don’t really want to pay that either. Heck, my bones died and I had my hips replaced, guess someone should have just killed me off then instead of fixing me. Might as well just kill us all now.
