Hello, my name is Al. I am a junkie. A political junkie. A Local Political Junkie.

It all started when I was a young lad delivering newspapers to the home of Mayor Bill Luell in Rice Lake, WI. As I would deliver those papers I would say to myself, “Someday I’ll have your job.” I didn’t even know what a Mayor did, but I was going to be one.

My political career started after I returned to live after college, in my hometown at the age of 26. Within a year of returning to Rice Lake I was doing political  cartoons for the local newspaper.

In 1984, at the age of 33, I defeated the three term incumbent for the position of Mayor with only political cartoon experience.  For over 30 years I have been involved as an observer and participant of local politics.

Presently I am a local Government Affairs Director for the Realtors Association.

Over the many years of sitting in local government meetings, from every vantage point in the room, I learned the game of local politics and wrote the book Moving Mountains and Molehills Local Politics 101, to teach citizens how to play the game of local politics and win.

In order to satisfy my addiction to local politics, I also now blog. Some say I am a very sick man. I search far and wide for local government/political issues that interest me.  I hope they also interest you.

You might even learn something. I do.
